Peter said Bob had promised to re-consider his position.

6. Peter said : ‘I can easily convince Joan.’ 

Peter said he could easily convince Joan.

7. ‘You must be tired,’ he said. 

He said you had to be tired.

8. ‘I know David Williams quite well,’ said Mary.

Mary said he knew David Williams quite well.

 9. ‘I daren’t smoke in front of my parents,’ said Peter. 

Peter said he didn`t dare to smoke in front of his parents.

10. ‘My mother died last month,’ Mary explained. 

Mary explained her mother had died the previous month.

11. ‘I’m staying here until tomorrow,’ said the man. 

The man said he was staying there until the next day.

12. ‘I saw Bob two days ago,’ Paul declared.

Paul declared he had seen Bob two days before.

 13. ‘I’ve been in London for five days,’ Mary said.

Mary said she had been in London for five days. 

14. ‘I am not guilty,’ said Socrates. 

Socrates said he wasn't guilty.

15. ‘If I know the answer by then, I will tell you,’ he said to me. 

He said to me if he knew the answer by then, he would tell me.

16. ‘John might have to take the exam again,’ she said. 

She said John might have to take the exam again.

17. ‘The chairman must resign,’ said the young man.

The young man said the chairman had to resign.

 18. ‘I wish I knew,’ she said. 

She said she wished she had known. 

19. Peter said : ‘Mary arrived on Tuesday.’

Peter said Mary had arrived on Tuesday. 

20. ‘I was in love with her when she was 18,’ Peter admitted. 

Peter admitted he had been in love with her when she had been 18.

21. ‘Virtue is knowledge,’ said Socrates. 

Socrates said virtue was knowledge.

22. ‘I’ll be leaving in two weeks’ time,’ he said. 

He said he would be leaving in two weeks' time.

23. ‘I haven’t seen her since I went to London 5 years ago,’ he said. 

He said he hadn't seen her since he had gone to London 5 years before.

24. ‘I will talk to Peter as soon as I see him,’ Mary promised. 

Mary promised she would talk to Peter as soon as she saw him.
